As girlswholikeporno we would like to propose for the next City of Women 2007 Festival a workshop, a photo exhibition and the filming of a short film.

WORKSHOP

We would like to do a workshop about Pornography, Feminism and Humor.

We have been doing workshops about porn and feminism since 2005. The first one was in the Queeruption Gathering in barcelona in june 2005. The second one in Valencia in a Feminist Festival in november 2005. Next workshop was in a feminist social center in Barcelona called Mambo, every thursday at 18h from March till June 2006. One of the most interesting workshops was the one we made in Hangar, a Multimedia Art Production Center in Barcelona, becuase we had assistance in filming, lighting, editing and make up. It lasted a week, in april 2006. Last october we made a workshop in Berlin, in the PornFilmFestival in the Jürguen Brünning studios.

This next year we would like to do one more workshop about porn and feminism in the City of Women Festival but we would like to go further in the theme of humor. As you can see in our work, sense of humor has always been present in our videos and performances.
We would like to present the work of other women artists working on porn with a humoristic point of view, Ana Elena Pena for example. We would also like to discuss why humor is no longer in porn movies as it used to be at the beginning of the porn industry. It would be crucial to analyse the post porn world and go inside the work of the mistress of porn and humor: Annie Sprinkle.
Besides, as sex is still an issue full of prejudices, we laugh at porn images only becuase we have never seen a thing like this. This may be very unrespectful becuase this images have not been created with sense of humor, it is our ignorance that frightens us and make us laugh.
We all should discuss which images we laught at and why.

PHOTO EXHIBITION

We would also like to prepare a photo exhibition for the City of Women 2007 Festival. We want to focus on images that show the position of women being proud of their own sexuality. But these images should present also the diversity of sexual desires and sex representations. There is not a women sexual image, there is not a «porn for women» neither, there are bodies and a multiplicity of desires that long to be shown.

SHORT FILM

Our last proposal is the filming of a short movie. We have been filming short videos since the beginning of girlswholikeporno and humor has always been present. Please watch La Bestia, Oh, qué desilusión or Gofist vs girlwho. We would like to do a longer film this next year, about 15-20 minutes. We would like to explore the post porn feminist theories and put them into practice!

The theme we would like to propose for the short film is ana suromai.

Ana suromai means the lifting of the skirt to expose the vulva. The Ancient Greek account of an extrovert named Baubo who exposed herself in said fashion to the goddess Demeter when Demeter was grieving over the loss of her daughter Persephone, who had been recently kidnapped away to Hades. Baubo’s skirt lifting allegedly made Demeter laugh, thus restoring the fertility removed from the world by Demeter’s bad mood. This little incident transformed Baubo into a symbol for the power and energy of female sexuality.

Ancient Japanese mythology also has a Baubo figure. She was the Alarming Female, Ame-no-uzume-no-mikoto, who created a face on the front of her body to draw laughter from the Heaven-Shining-Great-August-Goddess Amaterasu, when she was hiding her light in a cave.The Alarming Female induced Amaterasu to emerge, bringing sunlight to the world again.

There is also a catalan ancient saying that the sea becomes calm when seeing the cunt of a woman. La mar es posa bona cuan veu el conyo d´una dona. In Galicia, in the north of Spain, sailors´s wifes used to show their cunts to the ocean after they had parted to navegate.

There is plenty of mitology about the good and positive powers of the female sexuality that have been hidden. We would like o put them back into our lives to bring back the power of women sexuality.
