(English translation below)

Girlswholikeporno are Águeda Bañón (Murcia 1974) and María Llopis (Valencia 1975), from Spain.

The project emerged in Barcelona in 2002, with the ambition to offer a personal view on porn and sexuality, by questioning and subverting the construction of identities, fantasies and sexualities and reclaiming the creation of another pornography made by ourselves.

They started by filming videos and making Vj sessions, creating at the same time their own website, now an active blog that provides free acces to their work (under a Creative Common Licence). In 2004 they performed a live audiovisual act in Sonarama, a section of Sonar 04, Advanced Music and Multimedia Art Festival, in Barcelona. They Vj´ed in The art and politics of Netporn Conference in Amsterdam and presented an audiovisual show in the context of the World Aids Day in the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona (CCCB) in 2005.

During 2005 and 2006 they carried out various Workshops on Pornography and Feminism. The objective of these workshops was to reflect on pornography from a feminist point of view and to create DIY Porn. The workshops consisted of a theoretical part, in which postporn politics, queer and the new feminisms were talked about, and a practical one where the participants performed in front of and behind the camera in order to make their own videos.

Workshops have taken place in Queeruption 8 in Barcelona 2005 (a queers international gathering that it is celebrated in various parts of the world ), in the Feminist Sessions in Valencia 2005 and in the Jürguen Brunning Studio within the Porn Film Festival Berlin 06. In 2006 more intensive workshops were carried out in Barcelona, where a professional filming set was used during a one-week session in Hangar (Multimedia Production Center ) and a four-month workshop was ran in Mambo (Women and Lesbian Feminist Squatted Center). In october 2007 we made one more workshop in City of Women Festival, Ljubljana.

In the Santa Monica Art Center in Barcelona and in the Porn Film Festival Berlin, the videos made during the workshops were screened and the conclussions drawn there were discussed. They have presented their work as girlswholikeporno in the Post Porn Politics Symposium in Berlin and in Arteleku, the contemporay art center of Guipuzkoa in the Basque Country, during Feministaldia a festival of feminist culture.

Their videos have been screened in MixNYC 19th (New York Lesbian and Gay Experimental Film Festival), in Pink Screens, Alternative Gender film festival in Brussels, in the XXYZ Transpedegouine Festival in Toulouse or in the TransMarikaBollo Video Festival in Barcelona among others.

Girlswholikeporno are neither lesbians, nor heterosexuals and definitely not bisexuals. They believe in the postporn feminist queer theory as their grandmothers believe in the holy father. They neither believe in femininity, nor in the conception of porn for women, as that label is associated with a porn full of the tradicional values of femininity, in other words romantic music, gentle and smooth sex and heterosexuality.

Multiplicity of desires cannot be categorised.
